about baccano!

Baccano! is a light novel series created by Ryohgo Narita, which recently has been made into a TV anime as well. The 2nd storyline in the series has also been adapted into a manga.

Originally "Baccano" means "noise" or "ruckus" in Italian, but Mr. Narita translates it as "stupid commotion". Baccano! follows one major storyline involving several unrelated plots, crossing each other as events spiral farther and farther out of control.

Everything started in 1711, when a group of alchemists seeking immortality gathered to summon some sort of "demon" that held said secret. The demon granted their wish, and gave them an elixir of life, the method to create more of it, and also the secret to end their new-found experience.

The following night however, some alchemists started disappearing - they were "eaten" by one of their own. Having realised the threat posed by being close together, they decided to scatter all across the world..

It's not until centuries later, that our beloved Immortals come together once again- and "Baccano", the stupid commotion, starts.

Isaac & Miria

Isaac and Miria, the not-so-sucessful married thief couple provide without question most of the comedy in the series. They're two extremely energic and happy-go-lucky characters, who honestly never, ever realise the seriousness of the situation, like to believe the best of everyone, and basically also steal everything and anything (incl. chocolate).

They're certainly the most bumbling and idiotic thieves one has ever come across- but definitely also the most lovable ones: They really never fail to make one smile and chuckle.
